For any transaction within the Dwolla network, at least one party must be verified. By verifying your identity, Dwolla complies with the USA PATRIOT Act.

In order to create and verify account, Dwolla requires the following information:

For an individual users:

  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Physical address (API, FBO, Rural Route Numbers are all acceptable)
  • Identification number (Social security number for U.S. persons and passport number for foreign nationals) 
  • Email address

After receiving this information, Dwolla passes it to a major U.S. data aggregator/identity verification service. This service passes Dwolla back multiple pieces of information which is then used to determine whether or not the information provided is accurate.
