Dwolla Direct allows you to receive payments or fulfill a request with Dwolla for members who don’t have a full Dwolla account.
You simply enter your email address and create a password to set up a Dwolla Direct account. You can then quickly connect your bank or credit union account so we can process the transaction.

Anyone in the U.S. with a Direct account and connected bank can receive money straight from the sender to their bank account.

Direct account holders with a verified bank can send bank transfers to certain organizations or businesses that accept Dwolla on their sites at checkout.

To accept a payment as a first-time user:
If a business sends you funds, it’s a simple three-step process to claim these funds and withdraw them to your bank account. This section will walk you through how to create a lightweight, Dwolla Direct account.
To start, as a recipient of funds, you will receive an email notification. Click ‘Create your account’.
Next, you will connect the bank account you would like to receive funds to. On this screen, select ‘Connect a bank account’.
The final step in the process is to enter the appropriate personal and banking information to complete your account create and connect a funding source. You will need your routing and account number to complete this step.
That's it. Once a first payment is successfully claimed, all future payments made to this email address will be routed directly to the bank account in as little as one to two business days without requiring the recipient to take any further action.
To fulfill a payments request
First, you will receive a notification of a payment request or a prompt to claim funds. For example:

Select ‘Pay now’ which will open a new window for creating an account (or sign in if you’ve previously created a Dwolla account”.
If you are a first-time receiver, select ‘Sign up’. This will take you to a screen to enter your corresponding email and a password. Select ‘Agree and continue’.
Then, proceed to verify your bank account that you will be fulfilling payments from. You may be asked to answer security questions. This is a security measure put in place by your financial institution.
Lastly, confirm your payment, and you’re done.
Once a first payment is successfully fulfilled, all future payment requests to this email address will be easy. Next time, you can simply log in with your Direct credentials at the Dwolla login screen (instead of clicking Get Started) to pay with your bank or credit union account in seconds.
