Sometimes our system will be unable to verify your identity using the information you provide during registration. If that happens, we may request a state or federally-issued photo ID.

Here are the forms of identification we accept for verification:
  • an unexpired, current state-issued driver’s license or identification card
  • a current US passport

Before uploading your photo ID, please ensure the following are accurate on the image:
  • The name on the photo ID should match the name on your Dwolla account
  • The image of your ID must be in color
  • If your name, address, picture, or other pertinent information on the ID are unreadable or blacked out, we will be not be able to verify the ID

At Dwolla we strive to strike a balance between security and convenience. To create the safest network possible, we verify each person to ensure they are a real person and that they are the actual individual creating and using the Dwolla account. If we ask you for a photo ID, don’t take it personally. Even some of our employees have had to verify their account!

If prompted to upload your ID, go to the “Verify Account Info” page inside your account dashboard.
