Can I Cancel a Transaction?

Make a mistake while you were initiating a transfer or deposit? Let us help you out!

You are able to cancel a transaction in any of the following instances:
 
  • You have initiated a transfer or deposit FROM your bank account going TO your Dwolla account that has not yet been exported from the bank
  • You have sent money to a wrong email address or wrong phone number that is not connected to a Dwolla account
  • You have sent money to a Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn account that is not attached to a Dwolla account

How to cancel a bank-sourced deposit or transfer before the transaction is exported from the bank:
 
  1. Log in to your Dwolla account and locate the transaction under 'Pending' on the 'Payment Activity' tab
  2. Click on the 'Details' button next to the transaction that you would like to cancel
  3. Click the 'Cancel This Transfer' at the bottom of the details page
 

**Timing: If you decide to cancel a transaction at a later time, you risk that the transaction has already been exported from the bank. If this is the case, we suggest that you contact your bank directly and speak with the ACH/EFT department to have the payment stopped, cancelled or reversed.


How to cancel (1) a direct transfer to a wrong phone number or email address or (2) a Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn account that isn't connected to another Dwolla account:
 
  1. Log in to your Dwolla account and locate this transaction under 'Money Out' on the 'Account Summary' page
  2. Click on the 'Details' button next to the transaction that you would like to cancel
  3. Click 'Cancel This Transfer' at the bottom of the details page
