How do I sign up for an account?

Last Updated: Jan 23, 2014 09:39AM CST
You can create a free Dwolla account by visiting dwolla.com/register. Simply enter an email address, confirm your email address, and choose a password to get started.

Next, you’ll need to choose the type of account you’re creating. Your options are Personal, Business, and Non-profit accounts.

Once you’ve selected an account type, all that’s left is to provide some additional information, set a PIN, and agree to Dwolla’s Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and to receive information about your Dwolla account electronically.

We’ll start with a personal account, then outline what’s needed for business and non-profit accounts below. There’s also some helpful information for all account types.

Personal accounts

For personal accounts, we ask for some basic personal information, your address, and have you set a 4-digit PIN. The last step is reading and accepting Dwolla’s legal agreements.

Once you’re inside your account, we encourage you to add a funding source to make the most of your Dwolla account. This way, you can move money more efficiently into the Dwolla network (or into your bank account).

Business accounts

For business accounts, we ask for your business type (LLC, Sole Proprietorship, etc.), classification (education, retail, etc.), and general business information. We also ask for your primary address, a business representative’s information, and have you set a 4-digit PIN. The last step is reading and accepting Dwolla’s legal agreements.

Non-profit accounts

For non-profit accounts, we ask for some general organization information, address, and details about an organization representative. We’ll also have you set a 4-digit PIN. The last step is reading and accepting Dwolla’s legal agreement

Helpful info for all accounts

  • After you create your account, we highly recommend you verify your email address by clicking the link inside the verification email we send you. While optional for most account activity, we do require a verified email address in order to receive funds sent to your email address, and to update your password.

  • Read more about why we require your Social Security Number in certain situations.
